During the difficult and uncertain days of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Vincentian Andhra Society extended a helping hand to the poor and struggling families of St. Joseph’s Parish, Irusumanda, through a large-scale food distribution programme. Under the compassionate leadership and guidance of Fr. Vinay Sagar CM, essential food materials were distributed to nearly 250 families who were severely affected by the lockdown and economic crisis.
As many daily wage earners and vulnerable families faced hunger, unemployment, and uncertainty during the pandemic, the parish community stepped forward in the true spirit of Christian charity and Vincentian service. The relief materials included rice, vegetables, groceries, and other essential household items needed for daily survival. These supplies brought hope and relief to numerous families who were struggling to meet even their basic necessities.
The programme was carefully organized with concern for safety and dignity, ensuring that the aid reached the deserving families in different parts of the parish. Volunteers and parish members actively participated in packing and distributing the materials, demonstrating unity, compassion, and solidarity during one of the most challenging periods in recent history.
Inspired by the Gospel values of love and service, Fr. Vinay Sagar CM personally visited several homes and encouraged families not to lose hope during the crisis. His pastoral presence and concern for the suffering became a source of comfort and strength for many people in the village.
This humanitarian initiative became a living testimony to the mission of the Church — to stand beside the poor, the abandoned, and the suffering. Through the dedicated efforts of the Vincentian Andhra Society, the parish of Irusumanda witnessed the power of faith expressed through concrete acts of mercy and compassion.
The parish community remains deeply grateful to all benefactors, volunteers, and well-wishers who supported this noble mission. Such outreach programmes continue to inspire hope and strengthen the commitment of the Church towards building a caring and compassionate society rooted in the love of Christ.
